The Student Accounts Office is responsible for managing student financial accounts including billing tuition and fees, processing payments, ensuring that students’ financial records are accurate and up-to-date, and communicating important financial deadlines and policies. The Student Accounts Office seeks to provide quality service in an efficient, professional, and timely manner to University of West Alabama students, parents, faculty and staff.
Payments
Payments can be made by logging onto Self-Service, in person at the Student Accounts window located in Webb Hall, or by mailing a check or money order to the Business Office (information below).
To make a payment online through Self-Service:
- Navigate to the Financial Information tab in the grey sidebar on the left.
- Click on Student Finance from the dropdown menu.
- Select Make A Payment and complete the transaction.
To send payment via the US Postal Service by check or money order, please make checks payable to UWA and mail to:

Payment Plans

Scholarships or Payments from an Outside Source
Scholarship checks should be made out to The University of West Alabama. The name and either student ID or last four digits of the student’s social security number should be referenced to ensure credit is applied to the correct student. Mail checks to:

Direct Deposit
Setting up Direct Deposit
Students may set up direct deposit here or by logging onto Self-Service then clicking on Banking Information. Here you will enter your routing number and account number of a checking or savings account. It will take up to 10 business days for your account to be verified.
How do I change my direct deposit account?
Students may change their direct deposit account here or by logging onto Self-Service then clicking on Banking Information. You will deactivate the account that is no longer valid, then you will enter your new routing number and account number of a checking or savings account. It will take up to 10 business days for your account to be verified.
What if my account was closed before my refund was sent out?
If the refund was sent via direct deposit and the bank account is now closed, the bank will send the funds back to the University. A paper check will then be sent to the local address on file.
1098-T
Where do I get my 1098-T?
Students may access their 1098-T by logging onto Self-Service, clicking on Tax Information and then 1098 Information. If you have not already done so, you will need to consent to receiving the document online. Once the consent is saved, a pdf file will become available. Those who have not consented at the time the forms are produced will also receive a mailed copy. If you prefer to have the 1098-T mailed, please be sure your address(s) are current.
When is the 1098-T available?
The 1098-T will be available by the January 31st deadline set by the IRS. Once UWA has issued the 1098-T an email will be sent to all students receiving a form.
