Experience Campus Residence Life
The University of West Alabama provides many housing options for incoming freshmen, transfer students, and graduate students. Living on campus puts you at the center of university life, where you can engage with various people, activities, and destinations. Through thoughtfully developed environments, programs, and offerings, we hope to improve student growth, learning, and engagement.
Gilbert Hall
All incoming freshmen students are housed in Gilbert Hall, which also has limited rooms for sophomores and above. All rooms are double occupancy with private bathrooms and central heating and air. The building has open lounges and study rooms, along with a large community lounge and TV area on the first floor. A large laundry room, two classrooms, and a retail dining facility are also on the first floor. Gilbert Hall is also home to the Office of Housing and Residence Life.
Hoover Apartments
Hoover Apartments is an apartment community for students who have earned at least 24 semester credits. Each apartment in Phase One has two double occupancy bedrooms with a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room area. The apartments in Phase Two consist of four single bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living area. There is a large laundry facility centrally located within the community.
Patterson Hall
Patterson Hall has two different room types and is reserved for students who have earned at least 24-semester credits. Patterson A and C rooms have two separate sleeping areas, a bathroom, and a kitchen. Rooms in Patterson B have two single bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room. Laundry rooms are located within each section.
Reed Hall
Reed Hall has double-occupancy rooms with a kitchenette and a bathroom within each room. The kitchenette includes a compact refrigerator and a stovetop. Students who have earned at least 24-semester credits can choose to live at Reed.
Selden Hall
Selden Hall is a traditional residence hall and a low-cost housing option for students who want to minimize expenses. All rooms in Selden Hall are single, some with Twin XL beds and others full beds. Each wing has a community bathroom with private toilet stalls and shower stalls. The first floor has a large lounge, study area, and laundry room.
Stickney Hall
Stickney Hall is generally reserved for faculty, staff, and graduate students. There are double occupancy and single rooms available. All rooms have a full kitchen and a bathroom. The first floor has a large lounge with computers, TV, and plenty of study space. On-site laundry room with Tiger Bucks-operated washers and dryers.
Off-Campus Housing Options
There are several off-campus apartment buildings located near UWA. Rental rates are an average and individual rates may vary; some of the units are government-subsidized and rental rates are based on income.
