Physical Education P-12 (Alt A)

Master of Education, Master of Arts in Teaching, Alternative Class A Program

Pursue a teaching career or change your teaching area with the alternative teaching certification in physical education. This program provides you with master’s-level teaching certification in Alabama and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) or Master of Education (MEd) degree. You must have at least a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2.75 GPA from a regionally accredited institution, or a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum 3.00 GPA.

The continuum of field experiences required in UWA’s programs includes experiences in P-12 settings and culminates in an internship during the final semester. Students must also complete at least four seminars, as well as any necessary training sessions.

Examines the sociological, cultural, philosophical and historical foundations of education.

ED584 Methods of Teaching Physical Education

3 Credits

Students will develop competencies in methods of teaching physical education. This course will prepare students for the successful preparation of integrated unit planning and lesson planning in physical education. Student will be exposed to the components of Educate Alabama to better ensure success in the classroom.   Embedded field experience required.

PE584 Instructional Strategies for K-12 Physical Education

3 Credits

Strategies for planning, implementing, and assessing students in a K-12 physical education environment.
