Representatives from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (HCMUE) in Vietnam recently wrapped up a fruitful visit to the University of West Alabama designed to foster deeper ties between the two institutions.
UWA is partnering with United World Education to expand global educational opportunities for transfer students.
Dr. Mark Davis is excited about UWA’s new Global Scholars Community Scholarship, an exclusive program designed to elevate students’ academic experience and shape a more interconnected future. These new scholarship opportunities are aimed at incoming high school seniors and for current UWA freshmen. To be considered for this prestigious scholarship, applications must be submitted by April 15, 2024.

By the time she enrolled at the University of West Alabama, Carlyn Rawls was already captivated by the notion of studying abroad. Reared in Millbrook just north of the state Capitol, she soon learned options were bountiful for curious students without fear of moving to the globe’s opposite side. It’s an experience she sought.

The impetus for Dr. Thomas Saile’s 5,000-mile journey from southeast Germany to the University of West Alabama is steeped in academic cooperation between institutions separated by international borders and the Atlantic Ocean. But it also carries a simplistic twist.
The short-term, faculty-led UWA in Ireland program began in 2018 as a cost-effective way to broaden the university’s global reach and create a study-abroad option that featured neither language barriers nor exorbitant costs for students because of the compressed schedule, Riser said.

Campus dining options at the University of West Alabama don’t normally include Samovar-brewed Russian teas, dalgona candies from Korea, French crepes or street-style Asian fusion delicacies.

The University of West Alabama is partnering with an exchange program to bring two students from Germany to study at UWA. The program seeks families within a one hour driving distance of UWA’s campus in Livingston who wish to host a German student for the 2019-2020 school year. Anyone who is interested in serving as a host should sign up for the opportunity by June 28.
