The University of West Alabama’s Julia Tutwiler Library will host a book talk by author Ruth Beaumont Cook at the library on Tuesday, March 15, from 2-4 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free event. Refreshments will be served, and Ms. Cook will be signing copies for sale.

When U.S. Rep. John Lewis died in 2020, he bequeathed to the world a complex and inspiring legacy that serves as a testament to dogged nonviolent opposition and a roadmap of America’s civil rights movement.

Two women with inspirational stories will join a hallowed group that includes Coretta Scott King, Tallulah Bankhead, Julia Tutwiler and Rosa Parks when they are inducted into the Alabama Women’s Hall of Fame at the University of West Alabama.

The University of West Alabama has announced a fall concert on campus with featuring Sammy Kershaw on Friday, Sept. 10. A limited number of general admission tickets are available for $35 and can be purchased online. Proceeds from the concert benefit renovations at UWA’s Tiger Stadium.

The University of West Alabama leads a partnership that has just been awarded $744k by USDA for an agricultural innovation and sustainability project benefitting east Mississippi and west Alabama. The project is funded by USDA on the successful heels of a preceding project similar in scope.

The University of West Alabama will host Dr. Timothy Askew, professor of English and humanities at Clark Atlanta University, for a virtual event in commemoration of Black History Month. The event is co-sponsored by UWA's Diversity & Inclusion Committee and UWA CARES. There is no cost to participate, and the virtual event is open to the public. 

The University of West Alabama’s Division of Economic & Workforce Development, in partnership with CO.STARTERS of Chattanooga, Tennessee, recently graduated its first class of REBUILD, an entrepreneurial training class to assist small businesses in recovery, rebuilding and growing their firms.
