University Collection of Photographs PDF
The University of West Alabama was originally founded in 1835 as a church-supported school for young women with the intention to educate young teachers. In 1915, UWA allowed the admittance of young men into the university, not only expanding the student body but also the campus with it.
UWA has been around for 180 years, and within that time countless students have walked the halls of Wallace and Bibb Graves, stormed the field on homecoming day, and achieved a diploma as a Tiger. Photographers throughout the history of the university have captured and collected a myriad of college experiences. Within this collection are pictures of students enjoying the pool on a hot day, beautiful girls trying to claim the title as Livingston’s Loveliest, the construction of what is the modern day campus, as well as a plethora of other experiences that embody the university’s motto of, “There’s just something about this place.”
