Effective Date: January 1, 2025. 

Position: The Graduate Assistant for Cheerleading is responsible for the day-to-day operations of The University of West Alabama Cheerleading Team. 

Job Type: Part-time.  This position is not eligible for benefits.  

Responsibilities:

·      Plan and coordinate all practices and appearances for the cheerleading team.

·        Attend and supervise all home football games, all home men’s and women’s basketball games, selected volleyball games, and post-season games when required.

·         Attend all practices, clinics, camps, and tryouts for the cheerleading team.

·         Secure a location through facility management for team practices and events.

·         Assist with managing the program budget.

·         Order, distribute, and collect all team-issued equipment.

·         Work with the team to market the program on campus and through community events.

·         Assist in coordinating itineraries for travel to away games as needed. 

·         Driving the team in a university van may be necessary for away games.

·         Recruit quality student-athletes.

·         Instruct proper technique, choreography, and conditioning.

·         Comply with the rules and policies of the University of West Alabama.

·         Knowledge of NCAA and UCA rules and regulations.

·         Other duties as assigned by the Cheerleading Sponsor.

Qualifications

Required

·         Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.

·         Candidate must be accepted and enrolled in a graduate program at The University of West Alabama.

·         Ability to work effectively with the administration, faculty, staff, and students within the university.

·         Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel. 

·         Available for office hours every week and some evenings for practice.

·         Knowledge of cheerleading guidelines for safety. 

Preferred

·         Prior college cheerleading experience preferred.

·         Prior coaching experience preferred.
