The West Alabama Center for Conservation and Agriculture (WACCA) Field Coordinator is employed by the Office of Office of Sponsored Programs, Research, and Outreach and is responsible for the day-to-day field operations of the PAIS3.0 grant program. The Field Coordinator reports directly to the WACCA Director.  Primary responsibilities include 1) serving as supervisor for UWA PAIS3.0 field interns, 2) scheduling field activities, and 3) coordinating outreach services with landowners and partners.  The Field Coordinator’s responsibilities are listed below.  This is a grant-funded position. No guarantee or commitment is made for future or continued employment beyond the award of the grant or the terms of the contract.

Educational Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three years of work experience in a related field.
  • Excellent speaking and writing abilities and a professional demeanor.
  • Respect for the need for safety in all operations including the operation of motor vehicles, side-by-side, and other outdoor related equipment.
  • Highly developed organizational skills with an emphasis on multitasking.

Desired:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study.
  • Experience working Soil and Water Districts.
  • Experience working with USDA/NRCS personnel.

Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Serve as liaison between the UWA PAIS personnel, WACCA Director, Soil Water Conservation District and NRCS.
  • Make initial contact with landowners within the multi-county project area.  Explain paperwork associated with the project; including but not limited to discussing required paperwork/forms with landowners in order to get required documentation and signatures. 
  • Contact absentee landowners via phone, email and postal mail.
  • Identify property ownership /address on county tax maps. 
  • Prepare and submit routine and special reports regarding daily, weekly or monthly activities, observations, events and other relevant data.
  • Assist with coordinating project information/training meetings for private landowners and the public within the multi county project area.
  • Report accomplishments, problems encountered, work locations, etc. to supervisor. Is entrusted with Government-owned control equipment for which an inventory must be maintained and reported, including locations, acquisitions, returns, losses, and reason, therefore.
  • Possess valid State motor vehicle operator license. Operation of a Government-owned or leased vehicle is required. Must be able to operate vehicle pulling a small trailer.
  • Perform other duties, as required.
