Description
The Coordinator for On-Campus Tours, Orientation, and Special Events is responsible for all on-campus recruitment event planning and the oversight, planning, and execution of all freshman and transfer orientation programs. The Coordinator is expected to present The University of West Alabama in a positive and effective manner. This individual must convey the University’s mission, appearance, and atmosphere effectively and positively to the people they come in contact with.
Typical Duties:
- Create a campus tour plan that utilizes available staff, as well as offers appropriate opportunities for individual campus tours for prospective students and their families.
- Overseeing the orientation planning process, including program creation/revision, scheduling of appropriate faculty/staff, registration and marketing, orientation leader selection and training, and other duties typical of orientation programming.
- Assuming responsibility for all Preview Day and Saturday Tour on-campus recruitment events, including creating assignments for faculty, staff, and students for these events.
- Working with the Office Manager to manage and implement group tours, as requested. Will work with UWA faculty and staff to create other group tour opportunities.
- Assisting UWA faculty/staff with other on-campus recruitment events as assigned.
- Organizing guidance counselor workshops and breakfast/dinners, as needed.
- Representing the department at appropriate University functions as needed.
- Supervision of the UWA Ambassador selection and training process.
- Delegation of assignments to Admission Counselors and Ambassadors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Relationships: The ability to create and maintain relationships with various constituents (including prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and others) will be critical. Since the majority of activity in this position is based on personal effectiveness in gaining influence through confidence, trust, and a responsive service attitude, it is imperative that the Coordinator be able to relate well to the people around them and convey a positive image of the University. In addition, the Coordinator will be expected to know the day-to-day operations of all the Admissions staff and be able to fill in and help out when appropriate or in the event of an office absence.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated proficiency in typing and other office-related skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or other related areas.
- Experience in an admissions or enrollment management environment and skill levels beyond the minimum qualifications.
Prior to hiring, the final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation, including information obtained from social media and other internet sources.
