The AV Specialist provides comprehensive audiovisual support to the University community, encompassing troubleshooting, installations, and maintenance of AV equipment in classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces. This role is pivotal in ensuring effective technology integration for teaching, presentations, and campus events.

Qualifications

Required

  • Proven experience in AV support in an educational or corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and troubleshooting AV equipment, including projectors, PA systems, and microphones.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of University staff and guests.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize based on urgency.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support university events and emergency situations.
  • On-call responsibilities as required.

Preferred

  • Degree in Media Technology, Audiovisual Communications, or related field, preferred.
  • Technical Theatre experience.
  • Experience as a technical director for theatre and music productions.
  • A record of effective teaching in higher education.
  • Experience managing students, including scholarship and work study students.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to AV support requests from faculty, staff, students, and guests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with AV hardware and software, including emergency support in classrooms.
  • Support campus events by providing AV setup and operation, including audio mixing and sound reinforcement.
  • Participate in the installation and renovation of AV systems across campus facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of AV equipment inventory and system documentation.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks on AV equipment.
  • Assist with the preparation and support of events requiring AV technology.
  • Provide training and assistance to university community on the use of classroom technology and portable AV equipment.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance technical and job-related skills.
