Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometry, development and application of the axiomatic methods and computer usage in mathematics. Three lecture and two laboratory hours per week. Prerequisites: MH121 and MH300.
Math is important. Teaching math to the next generation, even more so. Our Department of Mathematics partners with the College of Education to provide you with a well-rounded preparation for teaching Mathematics in the secondary classroom.
The Mathematics: Teacher Certification (BS/BA) curriculum covers the topics presented in that venue with sufficient depth to support a meaningful understanding of the concepts necessary to teach. After completing the requirements from the Department of Mathematics and College of Education, you will have completed the necessary coursework to apply for certification in the State of Alabama.

Data analysis, probability distributions, sampling distributions, as a mathematical foundation for statistical methods including data representation and distribution of discrete and continuous random variables, and computer use in data analysis. MH388 Teaching High School Mathematics
1 Credits
The study of instructional methods as applied to teaching high school mathematics. Prerequisite: “C” or higher in MH121.

Graduates that successfully complete the Mathematics: Teacher Certification (BA/BS) program with certification quickly find employment either in the public or private school systems in Alabama.
