Fundamental biology and chemistry of the cell, including structure, function, replication, metabolism, and genetics, with emphasis on contemporary examples that relate to humans.
The Interdisciplinary Studies degree program is designed for students who have multiple interests and talents or who may have existing credits–academic, technical or experiential–and wish to pursue degree completion at UWA. The program allows students, under the supervision of an advisor, to design a program of study by exploring different courses across the University of West Alabama’s course curriculum.
Often, transfer students, students who have changed majors multiple times or students who have had challenges in other majors are able to graduate more quickly through the Interdisciplinary Studies program. This can also be proposed as an option for students to meet the goal of degree completion, especially for those on a specific time frame or those who wish to immediately begin a graduate degree program.
