EX200 Foundations of Exercise Science

3 Credits

An introduction to the field of exercise science. Exploration of career options, professional organizations, and certification programs within exercise science. Includes a basic survey of exercise physiology, nutrition, health-related fitness, performance-related fitness, sports medicine, biomechanics, sports psychology, motor learning and motor development. 

EX443 Kinesiology

3 Credits

The study of the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system as it relates to human movement and various motor skills in sport and life. Paper or project required. Prerequisites: BY231 and AH200 or EX200 or HPE200 or PE200 or SM200 and six hours from the following: Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Physical Education and/or Sport Management.   

EX444 Exercise Physiology 

3 Credits

Review of the physiological basis of human movement, including basic anatomy, the muscular system, energy systems, and examination of the relationship of fundamental laws of physiology applied to human movement. The primary goal of this class is to acquaint students with knowledge, understanding and value of the study of physical exercise as related to fitness, physical education, sports and work performance. Prerequisites: BY231 and AH200 or EX200 or HPE200 or PE200 or SM200 and six hours from the following: Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Physical Education and/or Sport Management.
