Division of Engineering and Technology

Some people identify problems and others thrive on solving problems. UWA degrees in engineering and technology provide the specialized knowledge and skills needed to identify needs in a wide range of industries and fields and develop the systems or equipment to meet those needs. The future depends on engineering and technology.

“Innovation is the ability to see change as an opportunity, not as a threat.”

— Steve Jobs

Shape the Future

The Division of Engineering and Technology offers Bachelor’s degrees in three major areas: Computer Engineering Technology (CET), Engineering Technology (ET) and Technology. Two-year Associate’s degrees in Industrial Maintenance (IM) and Automotive Engineering Technology (AET) are also available. While the CET, ET AET and IM programs are designed for traditional on-campus students, the BS in Technology is specifically designed for transfer students with significant technical credit from a community college, trade school or military service and capitalizes on skills already acquired. The BS in Computer Engineering Technology and the BS in Technology are available completely online. The Division of Engineering and Technology also offers certificates in Automotive Technician (Short Certificate) and Welding (Non-Degree Certificate).

Alumni and Student Experiences

“Instead of me just choosing UWA, I think we chose each other. UWA felt so much like home that after my first visit, I paid my enrollment deposit the next day! This university offers me an opportunity to truly make my mark. The professor who has had the biggest impact on my college career so far is Dr. Cobb. I started my freshman year as a Computer System major and Dr. Cobb persuaded me to switch to Engineering as it is a growing field for women. I took Dr. Cobb up on the challenge, and it has been the best decision I have made in my college career! My absolute favorite part of my major is the daily hands-on experience in labs! I am the Darryl Hutcheson Memorial Scholarship recipient for this school year & I have had the opportunity to intern with Hall-Taylor Construction Company this summer. These are both opportunities I wouldn’t have earned without the support and guidance of Dr. Cobb and my wonderful advisor Dr. Datta!”
