UWA provided me with a friendly and homely environment where I could meet some of my greatest friends! The mentorship available was one of the most valuable aspects at UWA; the faculty will do anything to help you succeed! The BOSS program has provided me with some of the best experiences of my life and helped me obtain my professional goals.

The BOSS scholarship provided me with more educational opportunities than I could’ve imagined, included studying abroad, practical research experience, and an incentive to do my absolute best. I genuinely believe I would’ve been much less prepared for my career without the BOSS scholarship.

Through the BOSS program at UWA, I found lifelong friends, was held to high academic standards that prepared me for my future journey into medical training, was shown the important of time management and self-motivation, and was able to fill my resume with valuable experiences that helped me be competitive professional school applicant.

Being a BOSS Scholar at UWA was one of the best experiences of my undergraduate career. Beyond the exposure to opportunities, the mentorship provided by UWA faculty is unmatched. From day one, you get to know faculty and they know you. You feel supported and know they will help you to achieve and reach you goals.

The boss scholarship was a wonderful opportunity to not only earn a scholarship, but to also be involved in research that led me to choose the field I wanted to work in. The boss scholarship and the projects it allowed me to be involved with are the reasons that I chose to pursue becoming a medical laboratory scientist.

The BOSS scholarship allowed me to not only pursue higher education but make the most of it through the various opportunities and resources it provided. I traveled to symposiums, conducted numerous research projects and internships that helped me achieve my goals, and even got hired at my dream job.

I will forever be grateful for the grace and opportunities for advancement UWA's Biology Professors gave me during my time as a tiger. I remember the first time I was introduced to research. I also remember being so excited to be a part of a research team working to determine the level of E. coli in a local lake. And, this experience birthed my passion for research. A decade later and my research career is thriving! I have been the lead of several projects, including topics on firearm injury prevention and mental health promotion.

My mother actually encouraged me to apply for the BOSS program, because she knew that not only the finances would aid with school, but she had also researched enough to know that I would have the advisor counseling that I needed to complete my undergraduate degree. Not only am I now debt-free, I am encouraged enough to also be attending graduate school to obtain my Masters in Health Administration at Auburn University in Montgomery, thanks to the BOSS Program.

My experience with UWA's BOSS Scholarship program was nothing shy of amazing. Through the BOSS Scholarship, I was paired with faculty advisors who heard my passions and made them my reality. The Biology department presented me with the numerous opportunities to grow and explore my skills. My advisor, Dr. Morsy, presented me with the opportunity to teach Biology in South Africa, an experience that helped me fine tune my passion within biology education and have a hands-on opportunity to do what I love.
